Risk management

The identification, assessment and prioritization of risks followed by coordinated and economical application of resources to minimise, monitor and control the probability and/or impact of unfortunate events

Supporting construction through compliance with all Fire related aspects of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007.

Our team of experienced construction risk management professionals can support all Fire related aspects of this regulation.  Ensuring all appropriate risk measures are considered and full compliance is maintained for the health and safety file and its filing with the HSE.  This service can include construction Fire Risk Assessment, Toolbox talks & Training, Evacuation plans, Evacuation procedures and Construction Fire Safety plans.

The Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007 (CDM 2007) and the related ACOP has as its aim to integrate health and safety into the management of the project and to encourage everyone involved to work together to

  • Improve planning and management of projects from the very start
  • Identify hazards early on,  so they can be eliminated or reduced at the design or planning stage and the remaining risks can be properly managed
  • Target effort where it can do the most good in terms of health and safety; and
  • discourage unnecessary bureaucracy

Our services support all of the aims above in relation to managing fire risk during the construction phase of the project.  We will work with the CDM co-ordinator and the client to ensure all aspects of fire risk are identified, eliminated or reduced, managed and reported as such for the health and safety file.  These include:

  • Construction Fire Risk Assessment
  • Periodic site fire risk review - applicable where construction progress changes the nature of the site
  • Fire Toolbox talks
  • Fire Evacuation procedures
  • Construction fire safety plans
  • Fire Warden training
  • Fire signage
  • Site emergency lighting systems
  • Fire detection and isolation sequencing to enable works but maintain cover
  • Impact analysis of construction works on fire related services
  • Impact analysis of construction works on fire risk for surrounding premises
  • All Fire related evidence and documentation for the H&S file

We do not cover fire engineering of buildings, as this is a highly specialised area of fire design.  For this area of expertise it is best to liaise with the institute of Fire Engineers (IFE).  Click here to Visit the IFE website
